New Year – New TV Opportunities

Happy New Year – and may it bring whatever opportunities you desire in the world of TV and creative media!

Talking of opportunities, I thought we should start the year by highlighting a few – for both the experienced producer and director and those looking for work placements, plus a chance to win Amazon vouchers just by doing a survey for ITV Talent Pool.

Creative & Media Work Placement in Spain

Firstly one of our favourite media placement opportunities – it comes around every summer and involves a 13-week funded (yes, expenses paid!) media placement in sunny Spain – Seville to be precise.

Called “Europreneurs” the placement is open to graduates, freelancers, the self-employed, and those available for work, including those who are currently unemployed.

Due to the nature of the placements, participants will be aged 21 or over and must be either UK nationals or nationals of participating EU countries (except Spain) who are employed or undertaking full-time studies in the UK.

It is aimed at creative and enterprising people, including film & video producers or assistants, who want experience working alongside established professionals, learning how they operate, make decisions and networking with potential partners to develop their own businesses.

You get all the details and an application form here but don’t waste time. Applications close in ten days time.

While you are there check their other placements and programmes for graphic designers, video editors, audio/visual communications and web developers.

Jobs for Experienced Producers and Directors

If you are an experienced producer then there are a number of jobs being advertised via the free job site The Unit List including:

Series Producer & Series Director for Raise The Roof Productions on a C4 property series (Glasgow)

Series Producer for Tiger Aspect  on a current affairs prime time show (London)

Producer/Directors for Whizz Kid Productions for an ITV animal show.

ITV Talent Pool

And finally, ITV are doing a survey for their newly launched Talent Pools, so if you have TV experience go do it and then create a profile on their site to be considered for ITV jobs.

Here are the details and the link:

Have your say!

New Year Motivational Message!

And if you are looking for motivation or inspiration in a struggle to realise your creative dream then here’s a quote from the late, great Steve Jobs to kick start your new year:

“If you want to live your life in a creative way, as an artist, you have to not look back too much. You have to be willing to take whatever you’ve done and whoever you were and throw them away.”

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”

Wishing you all the best for a creative and successful 2013,
